Okaloosa EMS Joins IAEP Labor Day Weekend

The IAEP wishes to congratulate Okaloosa County EMS who voted to join the union this Labor Day weekend in Okaloosa County, Florida.

The EMS division serves a population of roughly 203,000 residents alongside tourists and visitors to the area and covers hundreds of calls a day with 11 ambulances on the road. They are the first union in Okaloosa County government and are in good company with other union shops nearby such as the local firefighters.

“We’re excited to add these EMS professionals to the growing IAEP family,” said National Director Philip Petit.  “The vote is a testament to the solidarity of this group of workers and their commitment to forming a union despite an election process that took nearly a full calendar year to reach a vote. We’re proud to begin our work together.”

The IAEP is looking forward to continuing work with Okaloosa County EMS to raise the standard for the EMS industry in Florida, where the IAEP represents many other EMS professionals. Please join us in welcoming these hardworking first responders to the IAEP family.
