Federal Stimulus Update

In May, the Democrat-led House of Representatives passed “The Heroes Act,” which included approximately $3.4 Trillion in support for people and programs across the economic spectrum. To date, the Senate has refused to even vote on the legislation and the White House seems to shift its position every time President Trump tweets.  In fact, the Senate adjourned on October 26th, after voting to confirm Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the United State Supreme Court, until after Election Day.

The package that was drafted by Massachusetts Congressman Richard Neal and passed by the House in May includes funding for local and state governments, hazard pay for essential workers and an extension of the pandemic unemployment program, to highlight just a few of the programs contained in the stimulus package.

The election on November 3rd looms large in determining the future of the stimulus package… stay tuned for more information as we receive it.  NAGE will continue to fight for hazard pay for our members, and any other protection that we can.
