West Coast EMS Wins Leading Contract

EMS workers employed at Paramedics Plus in Alameda County, California, recently voted to ratify a new contract. The new contract delivers positive change for both the bargaining unit and the EMS industry.
“The negotiation team was able to secure huge financial gains in this contract,” stated National Director Phil Petit, “It may be one of the highest-paying contracts around the country for private EMS.” Negotiations were led by NAGE negotiator Scott Schaub and Dary Sardad, a national representative for NAGE EMS.
The bargaining team did not budge throughout hard-fought negotiations. The new agreement guarantees substantial economic gains for the San Francisco Bay area EMS professionals. It also provides an increase in sick time and PTO. The contract also improves employees’ rights to fair shift breaks, preventing workers from being held past shift without compensation.
The Schaub said, “We were determined to move this group of hardworking professionals forward. EMS workers risk their lives on the job every day, and they deserve wages that recognize that.”
Petit added, “Our members and staff should be proud of what they achieved through their persistence, patience, and solidarity.”
