The employees of University Hospital EMS who comprise Local 200 provide 911 ALS, BLS and Rescue to the City of Newark, Newark Liberty International Airport, Port Newark, and surrounding areas. The members also provide primary ALS throughout most of Essex and parts of Union Counties, along with interfacility critical care transport. University Hospital REMCS is a regional dispatch center, as well as the communications center for various agencies throughout Essex County such as JEMSTAR (NorthStar) and all air medical responses in New Jersey.
Working in an extremely high density area like Northern New Jersey is a serious challenge on its own, and when the pandemic began these heroic first responders resolved to go above and beyond. Not only did the members of Local 200 hold their own but in fact helped to win the battle against COVID-19 in more ways than one. The consistent and consumate work done by each member of the local made them a clear choice for a place of honor in this week's EMS highlights.
The entire IAEP family thanks you for the work you have, done and the work you will continue to do as dedicated EMS professionals.
