Rural/Metro-AMR Sumter Ratifies Successor Contract

The members of IAEP Local R5-092 have ratified their first successor contract with Rural/Metro-AMR in Sumter County, Florida.
The contract highlights include wage increases and adjustments, scheduled annual increases, tuition reimbursement up to $3,000 per member, increased bereavement leave time, increased boot allowances and a relaxed dress code for night shift workers, and an attendance point drop-off for perfect attendance. There were also improvements to the part-time scheduling and shift pick-up procedures.
The negotiations were long and arduous, according to National Representative Ken Skaggs. “We worked hard for this contract. It took a lot of negotiation, two public demonstrations, and a visit to the county commission,” said Skaggs. One of those demonstrations was a July golf cart rally in The Villages, a large retirement community in Sumter County with over 100,000 residents.
“We had amazing support from the community,” said Local R5-092 President Stew Eubanks. “We never could have succeeded without them. I hope they know how grateful we are.”
Local R5-092 represents EMS professionals providing ALS 9-1-1 service to Sumter County, north and west of Orlando.
