Retired Cranston Officer Assists in Florida Highway Arrest

Retired Cranston, RI police officer Jeffrey Duclos came to the aid of a Florida state trooper on the side of a busy highway.  The Florida trooper had pulled over a rental vehicle after clocking them going over 100 mph on route I-75 just east of Naples, FL.

The driver of the vehicle had a suspended license and tried to switch places with the passenger after pulling off the highway.  The two men got out of the vehicle and attacked the trooper, and Duclos saw the 2-on-1 fight.  He pulled over to assist the trooper in arresting the two men.

According to a post from the Cranston Police Department on Facebook, "He (Duclos) rendered assistance to the Trooper, after which both suspects surrendered and were taken into custody."  The post also goes on to describe Duclos as "…a dedicated public servant who positively influenced many of our students as the DARE Officer in our schools."

Thank you to retired officer Duclos for your quick actions and willingness to lend a hand to a fellow officer.
