One Man CAN Make a Difference

August 20, 2015 – Martha’s Vineyard, MA – NAGE employee, 40 year Verizon retiree and former IBEW local 2222 Chief Steward, Thomas Flynn, took a break from his well-deserved vacation to protest and picket Verizon on the island.
Flynn became involved in the informational picketing 2 months ago when he was informed that Verizon was taking away retirees health benefits. Flynn, who usually pickets weekly in mainland Massachusetts, says, “Verizon is trying to add to their bottom line by taking away our health benefits and it’s wrong.” Flynn added, “Verizon isn’t hurting for revenue. They are taking away these benefits because they think they can. I am here to put a stop to it!”
Thomas Flynn has been working at NAGE for over a decade and embodies NAGE’s ideals. Most recently, Mr. Flynn was heavily involved in the IAFF Local 1347 Watertown Fire Department’s contract efforts. Shortly after Flynn got involved, a contract was signed. We tip our caps to Tom Flynn for his tireless dedication.

We can either have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few; but we can't have both. - Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis
