NAGE and Trial Court Management Testify for Group 4

For the first time, representatives of NAGE and Trial Court management testified together in support of House Bill 2285, a bill that would move Trial Court security officers and probation officers into Group 4 for retirement classification.

Jeff Morrow, the Trial Court’s director of security, testified in person before the Joint Committee on Public Service on September 15 to support moving Trial Court security officers into Group 4. Morrow also relayed a greeting from Edward Dolan, the commissioner of the probation department, who indicated his interest in seeing probation officers classified in Group 4. The bill would move both security and probation employees represented by NAGE into Group 4.

Jim Redmond, NAGE legislative specialist, also spoke, with Mark Hurley, a court officer from East Boston District Court and newly elected executive board member of NAGE Local 458, at the table.

NAGE was on hand to videotape their testimony—you can see it here.
