NAGE Testifies at SJC Hearing over Hiring/Promotion Freeze

NAGE today argued at the Supreme Judicial Court on the matter of the petition NAGE filed over the Trial Court hiring/promotion freeze.
Assistant General Counsel Michael Manning argued that the judge should update and amend a 1992 order--reaffirmed by the appeals court in 2011--that would essentially declare that the safety of the public and that of security and probation officers trumps any reason for a hiring/promotion freeze.
The Trial Court argued that application of the 1992 decision was unnecessary and promised that a “speedy posting of job openings” would occur once the exam process had concluded. The Trial Court recently announced exam dates for Probation Officers and Court Officers.
The judge took the matter under advisement and will be issuing her ruling soon. As soon as NAGE is advised of the ruling, an update will be provided here.
