NAGE Federal Meets with VA Secretary McDonald

NAGE and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs kicked off a weeklong meeting on October 27. The meeting, attended by NAGE President David J. Holway, VA Secretary Bob McDonald, NAGE VA Local Presidents, and VA leadership, is an opportunity for Locals to express their concerns or issues to VA leadership and for labor-management collaboration.
“I am excited to have NAGE here and to speak with you all regarding the changes that we’re making to VA,” said Sec. McDonald in his opening statements. It was noted that Sec. McDonald is the first VA Secretary who has attended one of the annual labor-management meetings. McDonald’s opening statements were followed by a robust questions and answer session that lasted nearly one hour.
The agenda will focus on a variety of issues including the MyVA system, union-employee trainings, occupational health and safety, official time, and facility security, among others.
