Military Service Credit for Reclassification to CO-III’s:

Please see the announcement from Massachusetts Trial Court Director of Security, Jeffery Morrow. Included in this article are links to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the new court officer job description.

Members of the Security Department:
1. As you are aware the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement governing court officer employment were updated effective July 1, 2014. This agreement identified three levels of the court officer position (CO-I, CO-II, CO-III) as opposed to the previous two. The former CO-II is now referred to as CO-III. A copy of the new court officer job description is attached. (FOUND HERE)

2. The enclosed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Trial Court and NAGE now allows credit for qualifying military service for the purpose of meeting the requirements for CO-III reclassification. This agreement is retroactive to July 1, 2014.

3. The previous CO-II reclassification form is being revised to reflect the new CO-III terminology and incorporate the provisions of the attached MOA. (CLICK HERE FOR MOU) This form will be available from the Security Department once approved by the Trial Court and NAGE leadership.

4. Unquestionably, the skills and experiences obtained from military service are beneficial to our department. It is a pleasure to provide this advancement opportunity to military veterans.
