Mass. Healthy Workplace Bill Gets 58 Sponsors

Supporters of the Massachusetts Healthy Workplace Bill rallied against legislative delays and two huge snowstorms to get 58 co-sponsors for the bill this legislative session. Supporters had hoped to get 50 state representatives and senators to sign onto the bill, up from 39 last session, but now the bill has the support of nearly one-third of the state legislature.

If passed, the bill would create a legal claim for bullying targets who can establish that they were subjected to malicious, health-harming behavior. It would also provides defenses for employers who act preventively and responsively with regard to bullying and includes provisions to discourage frivolous claims.

You can check out the entire list of co-sponsors at the Mass Healthy Workplace Bill Blog. As you may know, NAGE has been a strong supporter of the Healthy Workplace Bill and will continue to monitor its progress.
