IBPO 435 Officers Save Couple From Fire

On Saturday, January 11, 2017, the police force of Lincoln, RI saved an elderly couple from a fire that broke out below their apartment.  Members of IBPO Local 435, Sgt. Walter Ptaszek, Officer Chris Hannon, and Officer Mathew Paradis are being praised for their swift action when lives were in danger.

The fire has been ruled as accidental, caused by improperly disposed cigarette butts in the basement of the building, which houses a social club. The officers responding to the fire broke down the apartment door and woke the sleeping couple to get them to safety.

Please join us in thanking the brave men and women in uniform who risk their lives daily for the safety of our communities.
