IAEP Members Commended for Response to Accident

Two EMTs were recognized for their potentially life-saving efforts after an accident in Ansonia, CT on Sunday, August 25th.

President of Local R1-408 John “JK” Kahyaoglu and EMT Smith were commended for their timely and efficient actions when two pedestrians were hit by a car in the parking lot of a local Stop & Shop.

Upon arriving at the scene, Kahyaoglu and Smith quickly applied a tourniquet to one of the pedestrians, potentially saving their life.

“This is another great example of the kind of dedication and service our members are providing their communities every day,” said IAEP National Director Philip Petit.  “This group is one of our newest locals and I couldn’t be more proud to work with a local president and team of members like the EMS professionals with Ansonia EMS.”

The IAEP recognizes the life-saving actions of our members and thanks them for their service.
