IAEP - Lapeer County EMS Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

Every October, major breast cancer charities across the world participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual health campaign to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. In an effort to fight breast cancer, various events are held around the world to raise money and awareness for the disease.

IAEP Local R7-664 with Lapeer County EMS was recently recognized by local media for their breast cancer awareness push. These members are swapping out their usual EMS attire for pink breast cancer awareness T-shirts to help raise awareness in their community. Members are also selling the shirts all month long to raise money for the American Cancer Society to help end this disease.

“We are so proud of this local and many others around the country who are once again supporting the cause and participating in promoting breast cancer awareness in their communities,” said IAEP National Director Phil Petit. “The National supports this initiative and encourages awareness and for all locals to participate in any way they can to help.”

As we near the end of October, it’s still not too late to help raise awareness or donate to research to help end this devastating disease. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, but thanks to early detection and improvements in treatment, millions of women are surviving the disease. Join the fight against breast cancer to continue to raise awareness and increase research to help people reduce their risk of cancer.
