Explosion at Nut Island Treatment Plant

Quincy, MA - Our thoughts are with the NAGE Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) members working at Nut Island Treatment Plant where, according to Mass. State Police, five people suffered minor injuries during a small explosion. Local media are reporting that the injured were transported to Boston Medical Center.

Quincy emergency response crews are on the scene after an odor control fan motor exploded.

NAGE local leaders are on the case. Local R1-168 Executive Board Member Dennis Normant reported, “It seems that some employees will need medical treatment for minor injuries including smoke inhalation, but it doesn't appear that anyone is critically injured. As we find out more about this event we will keep you updated with further details.”

We hope that the NAGE members and all those involved in this event are safe. NAGE wishes a healthy recovery to the workers and employees who sustained injuries.
