Elizabeth NJ IAEP Bikes for Green Spaces

Members of IAEP Local 87 took part in one of the largest organized bicycle rides in New Jersey to raise money for public green spaces in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Members of Local 87 with the Elizabeth Fire Department and Trinitas EMS were part of the 14th annual Tour de Elizabeth on Sunday, May 21. The annual bike ride raised funds this year for Groundwork Elizabeth, a local group dedicated to youth education about environmental issues and the preservation of area green spaces and waterways.

Six EMS bike units rode the 14-mile course along with the participants, to ensure rapid patient care in case of emergencies. Other Local 87 members and Trinitas EMS personnel managed the staging area for EMS operations at City Hall and staffed BLS and ALS units.

Local 87 members reported that there were no medical emergencies, just a few flat bicycle tires along the route.

Hats off to the Local 87 members for ensuring a great, safe day for all the participants!
