Annual NAGE Stewards Conference A Success

On October 14, 2016 NAGE held our annual Stewards Conference for Massachusetts State Employees and Trail Court members. Among the guests were Attorney General Maura Healey, State Treasurer Deb Goldberg, Congressman Joe Kennedy, Congresswoman Katherine Clark and Steven Tolman, President of the MA AFL-CIO. All of the guests spoke on the importance of collective bargaining and public service.

The day started off honoring the service of Julie Hall, a member of Trial Court Local 229 who went above and beyond her call of duty and saved the life of an infant when she discovered an unattended child was left alone in a sweltering house covered in urine while doing a home visit. Julie was provided with a service award from NAGE National President David Holway for her outstanding contribution. President Holway later went on to thank all attendees for their individual contributions.

NAGE Executive Vice President Theresa McGoldrick presented on NAGE’s efforts over the years to protect members from workplace safety issues and explained in depth how NAGE has been instrumental in shutting down ‘sick’ buildings where State Employees were routinely becoming ill. NAGE’s efforts has led to the shutdown of several government buildings which saved hundreds of State Employees from getting sick and possibly dying.

Massachusetts AFL-CIO President Steven Tolman followed up with a lecture on the importance of voting how it can affect our day to day lives.
We would like to thank all of our 250 guests who were able to attend for being part of such a successful event along with all our members for your tireless dedication to public service as well as our elected public speakers.
